Hitting every shot consistently is highly unlikely, even for the best basketball players.
Players who emphasize proper form, even when missing shots, are statistically likely to achieve more consistent performance over time. Good mechanics lead to predictable outcomes, allowing players to adjust and improve their game systematically. Perfecting shooting form lays the groundwork for greater shooting efficiency. As players refine their skills, they will see improvement in their shooting percentage over time, leading to better overall performance.
Missing shots during the adjustment period of using the SmartShotInventor Training Aid is normal and varies from player to player. We recommend training with the SmartShotInventor Training Aid using the wall and backboard drills before every training session. This will allow the player to focus primarily on shooting mechanics rather than makes or misses.

It may seem that I have a bias due to the product I invented, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My former coach, Hall of Famer John Thompson, always emphasized that time and score dictate the terms of the game. For instance, if I were to take and make a buzzer beater with horrible shooting form to win a national championship, the outcome would take precedence over my shooting form. In that context, the focus is on the result rather than the methodology.
However, when discussing sustainability, form and function, and the principles of science and probability, shooting form becomes essential. Consider a typing analogy: while one can type using a 2-finger method or choose to learn the proper 10-finger method, the latter will always yield more accuracy, efficiency, and consistency, regardless of how diligently the 2-finger typist practices.
It's important to note that even some of the best shooters in the world struggle to maintain a 50% field goal percentage, which indicates ample room for improvement. Take Stephen Curry, who has a career shooting percentage of 42.8%, Ray Allen at 40.0%, and Reggie Miller, who had an even lower percentage. Although the difference between Curry and Allen is just 2.8 percentage points, it highlights that Curry could miss his next 1,000 shots and still maintain a higher shooting percentage than both Allen and Miller.
This illustrates the critical role that science and physics play in shooting form. Emphasizing proper technique can lead to measurable improvements in shooting performance over time.
Lastly, practicing proper form requires less time to perfect. Improper form introduces more bio-mechanics which leads to more time required to master those particular skills.

Keeping your elbow aligned while shooting is a key skill that great shooters possess, yet mastering it is one of the most challenging aspects of shooting mechanics. Unlike more intuitive elements which are more self-correctable and easier to teach such as how far to bend the knees, where to position guide hand, or how to hold the ball properly — elbow alignment requires careful attention and training detail. Many athletes struggle to self-evaluate their own shooting technique without proper guidance. Typically, feedback from coaches or the use of mirrors is necessary to gain an accurate perspective on one’s shooting alignment.
The SmartShotInventor Training Aid provides a more effective solution by delivering real-time feedback on shooting alignment and form. This device ensures that players maintain proper shooting mechanics, allowing for immediate adjustments and enhancing both accuracy and consistency. By streamlining the learning process, it eliminates the trial and error often associated with self-discovery, enabling players to focus on improving their performance.

The SmartShotInventor Training Aid is most effectively used in form shooting drills. The muscle memory that you build training with the SmartShotInventor Aid naturally converts to game speed shooting mechanics! Although game speed varies with the player’s level, the fact will always remain that no matter how fast the light/sound feedback indicators are, human reaction time is too slow to process that information, making it humanly impossible to adjust your shot mechanics at game speed... Although some players may find it useful at game speed, the SmartShotInventor Training Aid is not recommended for game speed play.

We intentionally avoid using video of experienced basketball players that already have perfect shooting form in our marketing. This decision is rooted in the objective to showcase what the SmartShotInventor training aid can truly accomplish. Utilizing footage of professional or high-level players would not only undermine the purpose of our product but also be misleading.
We believe in the SmartShotInventor Training Aid’s ability to elevate players of all skill levels. By focusing on the development of fundamental shooting techniques, our training aid provides valuable feedback that can lead to significant improvement. The results speak for themselves, demonstrating the effectiveness of our product in enhancing shooting accuracy and consistency.

The best way to train is start by using 30-DAY SHOOTING DRILLS. These drills should be used daily. After getting comfortable with the drills start taking hundreds of shots close to and around the rim daily and incorporate this into your 30-DAY SHOOTING DRILLS routine. The focus should be more on form rather than baskets made. Increased efficiency and consistency of making baskets will come with continued practice and repetitions. Once you've built the muscle memory from using the SmartShotInventor Training Aid close to the rim, remove the Smart Shot from your arm and your muscle memory will take over for shots taken further from the basket and shots at game speed. This method should be used every day.

Every player is unique, resulting in varying outcomes in their training. Some athletes may develop new muscle memory more rapidly, while others might take longer to reprogram existing habits. On average, establishing muscle memory can require up to 30 days of focused training and repetition. Given the common desire for immediate results among players, it's beneficial for coaches and trainers to encourage the use of the SmartShotInventor Training Aid as an integral part of their daily shooting routine. This consistent practice can help athletes build the necessary muscle memory more effectively.
